Through no fault of mine or even my boss (blame it all on his business partner... or former partner, as it stands now)... I am, as of today, Without a Job.
Hopefully he will be able to get the needed loans, pull some magic out of his ass, or whatever, and be able to bring us all back in the future, but I can't count on that happening. I filed for unemployment today and handled all that crap, have to start looking for something to do come tomorrow (or monday at the latest, in case I feel like slacking and being depressed tomorrow).
ugh
I am so pissed at his business partner (don't ask, I can't get into details at this time).

What was your previous occupation?

I was the purchaser, shipping, advertising, and inventory department for a small computer sales and repair shop. The owner brought me on at the start to help get it organized and running, so I have been there from the start (a year and a half ago). Since then we added two other employees, who are also both gone now.

Hang in there, dragavan. You're a smart dude, you'll get another job (or this one back). Good luck to you.

Always sucks when bad stuff happens due to events out of your control.
Though I assume with your computer skills and experience you shouldn’t have an excessive amount of trouble of finding a new job.

Well, what else is there to say? You'll push through this hardship in a blaze of glory and awesomeness. Because, hey, it's you.

I can get you a job where I work, but it's all the way over here and it doesn't pay much.

Plus I'd have to work with you and who'd want to be subjected to that. :-p
I am not that worried about finding a job, it's just that we had a good thing going there and it was all blow to crap by one shithead going nuts and screwing everyone over. I am really hoping my boss is able to pull out a miracle and save the place, bringing us all back, but there is no way of knowing if that will be successful. So I can't count on it and have to actually look for a new job (that couldn't possibly be as cool).

Having designated time for depression is an excellent idea. You should give yourself maybe half a week to eat, drink, watch daytime TV, and just generally mope to your heart's content. It's better than finding Jesus.

could you imagine being sucked for a whole 24 hours? The first couple of hours would be nice..but..Surely that would be some form of torture...maybe after like three hours you could file a Geneba Convention complaint or something. Then the Democrats would come to your rescue and show all the secret pictures to congress (who must see all the pictures iffin they are to determine it to actually be torture)It could be escalated into a global news story.

Sounds like the plot to a high budget porn movie.
“Twenty Whore” with Special Agent Jackie Blower.

It gets worse...
I just found out my unemployment claim was denied because of the way lawyers and governments count fiscal quarters. I technically have not worked enough hours to qualify, except they aren't counting the last SEVERAL weeks because they are in the current quarter and not in the last fiscal year of quarters (or some such crap)...
So no aid for me. I can live and pay bills for ONE month at this rate and then I am doomed. I need to find a job fast.

thats a bunch of jive the man has come up to keep from paying up what the workin man is owed...when you owe a bill or social security or taxes or what not, those pricks hound you night and day and even hassle people known to associate with you just to get theirs, but when it come time to give back those pricks make you wait six-eight weeks for a check in the mail, cashable at one bank two mother-fuckin states away so you gotta wait nine more fukkin buisiness days, which is actually two-three more weeks depending on what imaginary holiday they and they alone can afford to take the day off in celebration of (and 9 times out of 10 its honoring some fukkin slave trader from back in the day)

There are plenty of jobs out there for which you are massively overqualified, just waiting to suck out your soul one drop at a time.
But just think...W.S. Burroughs actually preferred this kind of work since it kept him "real" and didn't detract his focus from all the sick shit that was going on in his head. We were watching the movie "Happy Together" (Hong Kong) in film class one day; there's a part where the guy is mopping up blood from a slaughterhouse floor and just kind of spacing out. The professor said something like, "Isn't there something about menial, repetitive jobs that really makes you contemplate the meaning of life?" So yeah, in other words, you will be philosophically sharpened by your experiences in the workaday world.
(Not to say that The Man doesn't suck the big one. He does, for sure.)
