View Full Version : Root Beer versus Beer

Which is worse for you? Which will make you sicker first?
Xnull and I have debated this question. I think due to its amount of sugar, rootbeer is worse for you than regular beer. Xnull believes, due to its alcohol content, beer is worse for you.
He and I plan on finding this out at some point in December.
The plan is that we will go drink for drink. For every can of A and W Root Beer he has, I will have a can of regular beer (a light beer, not a heavy one). Whoever barfs, passes out, or feels to sick to continue first loses.
I included a poll, vote for who you think will get sick first. The drinking period will probably go over a period of 3 hours.

I love beer. But I have to say that beer is worse for you than rootbeer. that's not to say that rootbeer is good for you by any means, it's just not as bad. In moderation, the alcohol is actually good for you; that's not something I can say about rootbeer. Otherwise beer loses the battle. You can't die from sasafrass poison, and rootbeer doesn't impair judgement. There is a lot of sugar in a lot of beers, too; not quite as much as rootbeer, but enough.
By the way, you're going to be sick as shit.
Xnull, end it quick; annihilate him and just chug four down, back to back.

While I wouldn't be able to drink either...I'd say beer is worse than root beer. But, again...the taste of both of these drinks makes me gag.

Well isn't this the underdog story of the century. Five to one and everyone I've talked to agrees with xnull. The rules are 3 hours, we don't have to drink at the same rate so long as by the end of the 3 hours the winner comes out having had more without getting sick. We will need at least one spectator, probably bigblotbob.
Also think about this. 10 root beers is HALF A KILOGRAM of sugar. I've had ten beers before and been fine. We'll see how it goes.

The vast majority who predicted I would fail are retarded.
Xnull vomited after 6 root beers. It was the carbonation and sugar in his stomach that did it, the vomit was projectile. I stopped at 11 beers but I could certainly have had at least 6 more. Beer, while tasting much worse, is much easier to handle in vast quantity than root beer is.

Ahh, but you've defined "sickness" by puking. If you wanted to be an ass, you could argue that having that much alcohol in the bloodstream, a state that is not naturally occuring, qualifies as being "sick" because the body is not in its normal state. And therefore, you were "sick" before Xnull- but yours did not debilitate your ability to consume further amounts of alcohol.

Not to mention the whole issue of mental illness that had to of been involved in the first place to think this was a good thing to try and do.
And if you really want to get technical this experiment really proves nothing about which one gets you sick faster as you are two different people with different biology and tolerances. You would have to do this experiment over again, only switching what each of you are drinking, and see how it comes out again. Then compare how long it was before each of you was sick on each drink and so on. Then you'd have to repeat the experiment on dozens of others, at least, to get a better sampling of test subjects. All this proves is he doesn't handle root beer well and you handle beer okay.

Also I would imagine that different brands of root beer have different levels of sugar in them, much like different brands of beer have different levels of alcohol.
If Xnull had picked a brand with less sugar to compensate for your light beer choice, he might not have got sick.

I think you cheated and put something in his drink.

Now now. Apoth is a good scientist. I'm sure that if he'd been able to round up enough retarded people to actually participate in this thing, then he'd have been sure to legitimize his findings.

I think what you guys did was bold and righteous, Apoth. You are on the cutting edge and I'm just proud to even know you. Kinda.

Xnull handles root beer better than anyone I know.
The next experiment I want to do is beer versus whole milk because I read that beer is healthier for you.
And another idea, vodka versus pure concentrated corn syrup.
And finally, is elite centurion actually possible? I haven't played centurion yet but I'm fairly confident I could do that. Also, are ten minute warning and an atomic century possible.
For those who don't know, centurion is a power hour for 100 minutes, elite centurion is for 150 minutes. Ten minute warning is 1 the first minute, 2 the second minute, 3 the 3rd, and so on and so forth to ten. The atomic century is centurion but with a shot of liquor for every tenth shot.
The atomic century is the only one I would worry about dying over the course of and would not try myself, though I would like to find a willing participant.
And then, the mother of all ones, Atomic Elite Speed Centurion. That would be 75 minutes, 1 shot ever 30 seconds, every tenth shot liquor. Whoever could do this without dying would defy basically every natural law.

I'd be more than honored to molest both of you.

I don't want to be molested. I just want to witness an elite atomic speed century with zantax.
Locke

They use Zantax to treat acid reflux, ulcers and the like, I think. If it affected the outcome at all, it'd probably be more likely to help him drink more. Xanax, on the other hand, would curtail the number of beers he could down. :)
EDIT: If by a somewhat insignificant amount. This is Chubby, after all.

No, no, no, Apoth. We would BOTH be drinking, and I would probably drug you.

I didn't even vote in this poll, so I don't care either way.
However I did just rate Crack Attack a 10. Don't say I never did anything for you, Chub Tub.

Chubby, I don't think you could handle molesting me. You'd end up poking an eye out.

Honestly, most of the best moments in Crack Attack were DEP's.

You focus too heavily on dialogue. Which is done brilliantly. I'm just sayin'...
Yeah, I get that a lot. I'm going to actually try to do more description in the next "epic" story. Though knowing me, I'll probably end up writing twice as much dialogue for every passage of background description I do.
Anyway, I thought Crack Attack was very entertaining regardless of who did what so it got a 10. I forgot I hadn't rated it.
The only thing I could never figure out is why the hell Jeff gave Crack Attack a 10, and gave TRASH a 4 when they’re basically the same sort of humor. Then again he gave Ebay a 10 and thought it was the funniest thing ever, so who knows.

I am beginning to resent the edit feature because Chubby has gotten in the habit of erasing what he writes and the replacement stuff is never as funny as the original.

What is sort of funny is I quoted part of his last message which doesn’t exist anymore, so it looks like I actually made it up.
Not sure what happened. In that last message (The “Bye folks” one) and the one before it, he seemed rather upbeat. He was praising TRASH and was giving a suggestion on being more descriptive. Then he mentioned how you and Katie were cool writers and it was good that there were more females on the site. Then he said DEP was one of his favorites and stated he was going to be working on a new story similar to his “Story X” and it was going to be deeply personal.
Then the next time I clicked on the thread, he’d edited everything he just said. Just about all his recent posts are edited like that.
Oh well, that’s his quirk.

Ya. Got kinda upset last night.
I've been trying to focus on getting healthy, working out, and cutting down on my drinking and last night I fell off the wagon and drank more than I should have.
It's okay. For me, the last few weeks have really been a time of change. I'm actually setting goals and accomplishing things I've been putting off for years.
In other words I'm totally insane.
I'll be okay. Sorry I deleted all that shit. Don't even remember doing that. WhatEVAH.
