Hey guys, I am battling my college right now to get them to accept my history courses as fulfilling the requirements at the college I now attend. They are all in the same state, and I feel that there should be statewide consistency to ensure students don't have to take the same courses over and over again. I've been going up the food chain with no avail. I'm thinking of making buttons and I am trying to get a meeting with the president, but I want to have a backup plan to instigate interest in the student body and perhaps be prepared to take it to the media. I need a catcy slogan. You'll be credited if I use it.
what do you think of:
Re-Evaluating Virginia's Old Lousy Unsatisfactory Transfer Ideas: Operation Now
as a slogan or
Revolution: Operation Now.

So these are AP courses from high school or what?Or from another college?

These are courses from a university level that I am trying to use to fill requirements at a community college level.
They tell me because I took the course all in one semester and they require the course be taken in two semesters that they won't consider allowing it to fill the requirement.

My college isn't counting any of the 30 or so credits I earned during high school... but I'm definitely planning on staying there for four years so I don't have to worry about it happening again.
It is an issue. With private institutions, I think they have a right to do as they please and count or not count whatever they want, but public institutions should try and prevent things like your situation from happening. I'm about to become a private school snob though so I will not be able to associate with anyone from a public university. :p

so they are considering these other courses as like electives or something?I am sorry I never attended college and dont know the proper terminology)
Seems like if you took the courses they should count towards whatever subject they apply to.

Indeed they are counting my US History and Western Civ courses as electives in order for me to take a US History and Western Civ course of their choosing to fulfill thier requirement.
My argument is that if both colleges are in the same state... in this case Virginia, and thus both fall under the jurisdiction of SCHEV then what constitutes an adequate understanding of US History at one institution should hold true for the other. Additionally both schools are accredited by the same body... this body being SACS, which covers numerous states. I should be covered if I switch among the Virginia schools, my GEN-ED courses should be transitioned without a fluke.
In addition to this problem, I have another problem- they lost my original transcript, or didn't receive it. Either way, somewhere out there is a lot of information about me that I wouldn't want in the wrong hands, and there seems to be no system in place to notify me that my transcript was not received... even though they received a form requesting evaluation. This is ANOTHER transfer problem that I've heard other people have as well.
And as for you Dear Apoth, don't be too snide about your private school, you'll probably end up spending years paying for the honor to attend, and unless it is one of the Ivies no one will care. But congratualtions all the same. I expect great things of you... just so you know.

Yeah, this is complete B.S. If the schools are accredited by the same body, there should be absolutely no problem transferring course credits, especially for gen-ed type classes. The only problems I've seen people run into is if there's a discrepancy over how many HOURS the course actually lasts, or if there's a difference in the credit system between schools. But they need to at least give you a legitimate reason for rejecting your transfer credits. And about your transcript, don't ever expect to hear anything back from a registrar's office. I have found them to be the worst-run and crunchiest in terms of attitude of all the offices in a college or university. In fact, I usually made sure I was a little drunk before I did any business there, as it always had a depressive effect on me. I also wish to hell that I had ditched my snooty New England liberal arts college for a big state one with a good honors program. I could have been basking in the Southern Cali sun, but nooooo, I had to freeze my ass off in Massafuckingchusetts just to be rewarded with a worthless degree and a whole buttload of debt.

Yeah, the problem seems to be because I took my class in one 3 credit course, and their class is broken into two 3 credit courses. However, I believe they should give me at least credit for fulfilling half of the requirement. They disagree.
Additionally they took one of my 3 credit courses from the university and gave me 1 credit for the course. Hmm... If they can take away they should also be entitled to give a little bit of love back.
I've requested a meeting with the president of the college, I hope this works... if not, I'll need all the slogan ideas you guys can generate. Does everyone like Revolution: Operation Now? Or is it too much?

Blah, the educational system is such a corrupt game at this point. And to think, my four year degree is not going to mean anything since I plan on graduate school... just sorta like the last 13 years of education I have had. So, to compensate, I'll have to get fucked up a lot and try to make as many decisions as possible that I will regret or else the four years simply won't be worth it.

Yeah go with "Revolution: Operation Now", it’s short and to the point.

It is corrupt, but if I can't affect change now in my younger days when I am still naive and optimistic enough to hope for a better world, when will I ever be able to do so. I am going to be a tenacious little bitch and see what I can discover.
But back to the task at hand, does everyone like REVOLUTION: Operation Now!?

I think it is to much. It reminds me of a Bush administration slogan... so over the top that it would jade people. Find something a bit more subtle but still very simple so people will think they are smart when they figure it out and feel like they are apart of some small elite group of particularly witty human beings while in reality anyone with half a brain could understand that.
I don't really know what I'm saying though, I should get some sleep... but if you find any merit in my advice then take it. Goodnight.

I'm much better at blatantly outlandish rhetoric. the only other thing I can come up with is
I REVOLT.... as in: I'm Re-Evaluating Virginia's Outrageously Lame Transfers... but again, pretty obvious.
I like the revolutionary one because it ties in with a historic event, and I am fighting personally for my right to count my history course as fulfilling TCC's requirement.
I need suggestions my genius companions.

I won, no need for revolution.
did you know you have to have 10 characters minimum to post here?

I never noticed that, considering I usually try to break at least fifty characters with each post. I suppose that is a good rule to limit post whoring.

Yeah, great way to stop the "Me too" and "I agree" posts that other forums are full of. Also, you won't see any "FIRST!" posts because of it either... although people could just put like fifty "!" after it, I guess.
