I have finally joined the Netflix revolution. I figured I would do this since my renting habits have increased recently and that's just not cost effective. If anyone is interested, I plan on writing reviews of everything I rent (at least trying) so you can check them out as I post them. If you really want to be my friend on there, feel free to PM me and I might give you the link to do that.

My first three have arrived, so I have movies to watch this weekend. Then the reviews should go up soon after. The starting line-up is "Confessions of a Dangerous Mind", "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou", and "Wet Hot American Summer". I figured that was a good mix to start with. Something for just about any mood.

It would also be nice if you could post a review of the Netflix service as well.
I have thought about joining. Are you downloading or using snail-mail?

Put Tideland and Pan's Labrynth on your list of movies to get. (assuming you haven't already seen them)

I am a Mac user and their download service uses that horrible WMV DRM so I can't use it. besides, I like special features so I would rather have access to the full DVD and not just the movies. My reviews include coverage of what special features it has and if they are worth it.

As for those movies, I went out of my way to see Pan's Labyrinth in the theatre and then eagerly awaited the DVD release. What a Great movie. I will have to check out the other one.

Ok, they approved my first reviews, which creates my review page and RSS feed, so you can now subscribe to or go to my reviews at NetFLix. It's simple enough if you care to go read them. I just wish they allowed formatting, because these really should be three or four paragraphs instead of one long one, but at least they limit it to about 2000 characters so you can't get too long winded with it.

Anyway, here is the RSS feed: feed://rss.netflix.com/ReviewsRSS?id=P9539536793561413093595972088876438

Okay. I just found a very strange quirk in the NetFlix review system (aside from the lack of any ability to format at all). I actually had to have them dig into the program to find it. They have filters and things that keep them from being too short, too long, containing URLs, including swear words, and more. Those I can all understand.

They also have one that rejects it with a generic error if you include the word NetFlix in your review. They don't want any self-promotion in the reviews on their own site? All I wanted to do was make a comment about adding this DVD to a NetFlix Queue right away. I changed it to just say Queue rather than NetFlix Queue, but it's still odd that it hates their own name.

Three more reviews should be added to NetFlix (and IMDB, for that matter) as soon as they are approved.
