  • Ah, but have you watched Pink Flamingos with your mom?

I think the nastiest scene is probably when the guy’s jerking off and injecting his sperm into the girls’ pussy with a syringe. (Never did like needle scenes)

But yeah if you've already watched 2girls1cup, death by horse dick, etc, well not much is going to bother you as far as "movie gross out/shock" goes.

I guess you could try August Underground and its sequels though.

    • I recently saw two movies I greatly enjoyed... one was older and one was newer, and they are very much NOT alike in any ways.

First was Harold and Kumar go to White Castle. From the original commercials and similar genre movies of the time I had no will to see this. It looked like a dumb movie about two dumb people doing dumb stuff. I hate Dumb & Dumber and similar type movies so I had no hope for this film. Enough people said it was funny so I figured with the sequel coming out I should NetFlix it. OMG, I laughed my ass off. The movie was actually really well done and funny as hell. They were not dumb characters at all, just stoners with the munchies (like many people I know), but it didn't really stop them from having brains and decent jobs. and the best line ever was in this movie: "Bullets, my only weakness. How did you know?"

The other one was Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium. This is a kids movie that I thoroughly enjoyed as an adult. The movie was amazing and beautiful and made you feel like a kid again. Dustin Hoffman was delightful as the title character and he really made you believe in magic being all around us if we just allow ourselves to see it. This is the first "kids" movie I have seen in a long time that I actually feel I need to go out and buy the DVD (once I have a job and money again). I want to there.

      • I've seen the highlights of August Underground.

Some of it was really creative, but the majority of the movie was a disappointment.

        • AU I think did what it set out to do, but it's not like something I can watch over and over mainly because after the "shock" there's not much there and not very interesting to watch.

AU: Mordum was probably "sicker" but it was so over the top which sort of broke the illusion of it being a "real" snuff film. (The camcorder angels were more "movielike" rather than handheld too at times, which also disrupted the illusion) Which means it failed in that regard despite it being a little more interesting.

Haven't seen AU:Penance yet. Heard they concentrate on more of a storyline for that one.

Yeah I thought Harold and Kumar looked dumb too, but I ended up liking it. (Thought the Cheetah part was stupid though) The sequel looks funny, I was wondering when they were going to get around to making it since the rumor I always heard was that it was going to be set in Amsterdam.

          • I can't really conceptualize something much worse than I have already seen. Maybe a baby being drowned in human feces while being sodomized as a nun has her skin cut directly off her bone and then has battery acid poured over that, but even that image would only evoke mild interest. I'm about as jaded as you can be, a product of my generation, of the internet generation. Still, I cannot stand bad smells.... kind of funny how some senses are invulnerable and others are still very sensitive.

              • So is Memento worth watching?

I periodically hear people talk about it being one of the deepest movies ever just like Donnie Darko, but given that I didn't care for that one too much, I'm wondering if I should waste my time with Memento.

                • Memento's plot is more logical and straightforward than Donnie Darko's, once you realize what's going on. I wasn't as taken with the movie as my friends seemed to be; I guess the film's "aesthetics" (gritty, postmodern style, and if I remember correctly, a fair amount of handheld camera work) got to me. The plot, though, is solid; it's a good, well-made movie (I have to give it a nod even though I really didn't care for it much personally) and the way it reveals things is innovative. Especially as so many people seem to think it's a great modern classic (though I do disagree on that score), if you've got a couple of hours free, it's worth a see.

Considering It's often at the top of my favorite movies of all time, along with Usual Suspects, I would say yes.

Donnie Darko was a cool movie that was more about moods and feelings than plot and cohesion. I liked the movie, and own it, but would not call it a favorite or even suggest that most people watch it.

                    • I personally thought Donnie Darko was an overrated piece of crap, but Memento is a great movie. If nothing else it really makes you think.

After watching it I had all my dreams backwards. It also makes you think about what life really is and how reality changes with (or without) memory.

                      Watch it.

                      • Guillermo del Toro is directing "The Hobbit" and its sequel, New Line Cinema announced Thursday. The 43-year-old filmmaker will move to New Zealand for four years to make the films back-to-back with executive producer Peter Jackson.

Del Toro wrote and directed "Pan's Labyrinth," which earned six Oscar nominations in 2006 and won three awards. He is also the director of the upcoming sequel "Hellboy II: The Golden Army," whose monsters bear the unmistakeable surreal vision of the Mexican-born filmmaker.

                        Muy interesante.

                          • Rock on. I heard their were rumors he might, I didn't know it had been made official. That's greats news. I love his stuff.

Pan's Labyrinth was amazing. I went out of my way to see that movie several times.

I thought he did the best of the Blade movies.

I also thought his adaptation of the Hellboy comics was great, and am looking forward to the second one (and liked the animated ones too).

                            The Devil's Backbone was brilliant.

and I even think Mimic was far better than the critics gave it credit for. Sure, it was about giant insects that looked like bums in the subway to lure people in, but it was still well done for a cheesy monster movie.

I can't wait to see what he is going to do with the Hobbit. And here I thought the only thing I had to look forward to from him was the Doctor Strange movie he is attached to that may never get made.

                            • ...Doctor Strange... Is that the one Comic Superhero who uses accult-ish things for his powers and, while occasionally appearing to help Superman or Batman, ect., is too overpowered to really have his own series?

                              • Mimic is a chronically underrated movie. The two sequels weren't as good though... strangely, every single one featured a retarded boy.
