Doesn't the very nature of pi indicate that it's utterly infinite? So why do people keep trying to map it out? I'm not a math major somebody please explain.
Cherry pi is my favorite.
P.S. I had a 'Where's Waldo?' dream last night. Fucking crazy. If I had enough money I'd have murals of Where's Waldo on all of my walls. Where IS Waldo nowadays? i saw the E! true Hollywood Story on him and I heard he got lost in the New York Subways. No one ever found him.

As for Waldo -- he finally managed to lose all those pesky followers of his, so nobody is currently sure where he's at.
As for pi -- it isn't really "infinite"; it just can't be expressed perfectly as a fraction or a decimal (this has been rigorously proven -- it's not just what seems to be true). So people are always finding decimal approximations that are closer to it, even though they can never get it exactly.
At this point I doubt if there's a practical purpose to finding more digits... I think some people just get bored or something. Some people DO get famous by breaking the record for digits memorized, on occasion, though... I think the record is well over 100,000 by now.

Pi is infinite, in other words. A perfect circle can never be perfectly equated because the very nature of numbers is imperfect. Fractions and decimals...bla. It's all nonsense. There is no mathematical expression for a perfect circle. In my humble, made it to Algebra 2 in High School, opinion.
And yes, my house got raided but I fought back. In other words I snitched on DEP's mom and got away free. Fuck DEP anyway.
Ya, I personally don't care what you call it, but a lot people who really study math take "infinite" to mean something like "greater than any finite value". Pi isn't, since it's less than 4. It has an infinite number of non-repeating digits, though.
And for circles... either the radius or the circumference (or both) always has to have an infinite number of non-repeating digits. It doesn't matter which. Of course, mathematicians find a way around this by saying that π = pi exactly. Problem of imperfection solved!
