Fake DEP account.

Hello, it has been brought to my attention that someone thought it would be funny to create a fake account with my username. Not really sure how this site allows for the same username to be created twice, but I'd like to assure all of you that it wasn't me.

Also, I am not threadkiller. It was revealed to me that this bogus account also sent several of you a message claiming that fake-me was down lately and using the threadkiller account to blow off steam... or some shit.

Also false. If you still have the message, go to the account that sent you the message and you will see the post count from this fakie is zero, they don't have an avatar, and they aren't nearly as charming.

I appreciate those who offered me words of encouragement under the alleged "I've been down lately" message from fake-me; however I've not been down lately. I've actually been quite up. Which, believe it or not is sort of a rarity. (for those of you who didn't offer me words of encouragement, you're all dicks. lol.)

Anyway. Hope that clarifies some stuff. Thanks unnamed person who tipped me off to this shit. Wish I'd known sooner.

When I am depressed I basically write more, I try to use it as an outlet and an opportunity to make the best of a bad situation. I don't send weird messages to everyone. I actually try to hide it so that I don't get sympathy from people. I hate sympathy. (not that I don't appreciate the sentiment behind it or the person(s) giving it) but it weirds me out and I'd much rather be left alone.

Anyway... Well this has turned rather random.

Oh hey, I've taken the first step towards launching my writing career. I have a copyright and I am in the process of talking to three agents. I also have another play nearly done that I'm working on so I can get it going to.

No more procrastination. Probably.

Also, future death threats will not be tolerated toward any member of the forums. Had those been done to anyone else, I would have banned the person in question. However, they were directed at me and I think I'm a pretty good judge of what I can and cannot take. Though, for the record, I am pissed off with said person. But hey, I've lost better friends for worse.

Well I have to admit I got fooled by the message, I didn't even think to pay attention to the post count status which I'm looking at the top of that message that says Guest.

When Chub was bringing it up on the forums, I figured you were just really trying to stay in character by continuing to deny it though.

Though I was also wondering if you were just doing a Dr. Jeckle/Mr. Hide thing on the forums since I did check your Facebook account before all this came out and you seemed pretty upbeat and mentioning your writing stuff on there.

How the hell did that manage to happen? We were all fooled because no one believed duplicate accounts were even possible.

You say the account has been deleted, and I assume it's now been rectified so it can't happen again. I'm really not happy about the breach of privacy though.

Can we make sure any other such "holes" are good and plugged?

Other than an outright duplicate, the only thing I can think of is fake DEP (Who is probably Threadkiller or working with him) put a space at the end or front of the name to make it look very similar yet it registered as a different account.

I have no qualms saying it was me who figured it out (although I was fooled by the first message) and told DEP about it. I kept it quiet at first in case it was really DEP who did it somehow and was part of his "problems". I don't like to out people if I can help it. And I don't care of they realize it was me, since they probably already know due to messages sent and the timing of things.

As for the account, the name was identical. It had no space, underscore, or anything. It can not be done by joining using the same name and had to be a hack of some kind. And apparently the forum software doesn't think it can be done either, because it didn't even look for another person with that name when you sent a DM to donteatpoop (even though they are like 500 numbers apart if you look at the ID numbers). It just did it's search, found that one first, and then sent it.

Sure am glad DEP isn't going through what the original message said he was. I was worried about him. Now I can go back to not giving a shit.

I've been dealing with some personal issues.

I guess it's not an excuse, but I've been drinking more recently. Sometimes I reach a point where I want to vent.

...I'm the Threadkiller. It's probably obvious by this point, but the bipolar Bear isn't a real account, either.

It wouldn't be an issue except for the moderator/admin thing. I've banned a couple of alternates before. I've tried to justify it, but it is an abuse of power.

I don't want to undermine the site by posting this, but I thought I'd at least let the regulars know.

Sorry. The thing with the bear the other night just pushes it over the top. If you guys want me to step down at this point, I'm okay with it.

See, now I'm disappointed in all of you. Does that even sound like me? I'm much more verbose, I post in paragraph form (even loosely), and I would never start it with *ahem*. I guess I can forgive you because the username was identical.

But seriously. Yeah, no shit the bear is fake. Whose fakie is it? I don't know. I suppose I could check IP addresses, but I really don't care. It's a harmless fake account. This donteatpoop impersonator, on the other hand... What a douche.

Also, I never drink more than a beer or two. Unless I'm at a party or something. So while I do drink often, I do not drink to get drunk. I actually drink because I love craft beer.

And unless I'm mistaken, the only tool who refers to threadkiller as "the" threadkiller is threadkiller himself. So perhaps he is the hacker. I don't know though, if it was him he had to have spent like three months texting out that message.

I've never seen what the big deal is about multiple accounts...I kind of think they add a little extra fun, especially when things are becoming a bit dull.
