Sounds like one of my stints in the county jail.

    Seriously.

    Oh, and Megaman. Thank you.

Why, thank you for the faith! I totally have more than one-two rooms, depending on how short I cut things. I definitely haven't been looking at the word count of my previous works to see how lazy I can get.

      ...hey, wait!

Anyway, I figure that, if the forums are still spammy when the 16th rolls around, we can seize one of these other threads. Like the tap-tap thread, or something. It's not like we have to limit the whole forum to this one single thread. We've got twelve of them.

Also moving on to video games... I miss Little Big Planet. It was very sad when the PS3 roommate moved out. Holy crap is that game ever addicting. I collected 100% of the loot, and even managed to get the no-death on all of the stages. It was hard not to die on the final boss stage- but it was even harder not to die in the Mexico TNT levels. Anyway- super fun game. I loved it.

I admittedly haven't tried the Kinect, but I'm really not all that excited about it. For starters, it requires a huge amount of very well-lit space. And, frankly... video games, to me, are about laziness. The Wii is interactive enough- and all you really have to do is shake the remote a few times. I don't want to get any more physical than that. That's not why I play video games. I play them to relax, not to get all sweaty and gross.

And it's embarrassing when you make any noise at all.

I know, right? It's like if I want to get all sweaty and gross I'll go have a sleepover at DEP's mom's. Even though there wont be much SLEEPING, if ya catch my drift!!!!

        Get it? HAhahahaha!

No seriously though DEP's mom TOTALLY puts out if you're ever feeling lonely. And that goes for you too, katie. She swings both ways, if ya catch my drift. And she is a TOTAL freak. She will literally do ANYTHING for a twenty.

        • We got a PS3 for cheap awhile back, but we still don't have many games for it. Katie tends to play a lot of Nintendo/Mario stuff so she plays more stuff on the Wii and I still prefer the games on the 360. (Not doing the Kinect thing though, one console with moving around is enough)

Little Big Planet was cool, Katie likes platformers like that more than I do though. She got ModNation Racer which is a lot harder than Mario Kart. You can't make a mistake at all, or you'll fall way behind and won't be able to catch up.

As for me, I haven't tried the Uncharted series yet, but I finally got around to playing some of the God of War games (1&2 collection) I can see why people like that series.

I'll also recommend INfamous for the PS3. I liked this one a lot and I'll definitely be getting the second one when it comes out. It's basically a super hero (or super villian) grand theft auto type game.

Demon Souls seemed like a game I'd be interested in, but ultimately I just got bored while playing it. Something about it just didn't grab me. If you're into difficult fights and dungeon crawling you might like it though.

Heavy Rain is called the next step in video games to not a game at all. I'd have to side more with the latter. It reminds me of a more complex version of "old school" Dragon's Lair where the entire game consisted of quick time events. Except in this case you don't necessarily die if you don't push a button or move the joystick a certain way, you just unfold the storyline in a different direction though there's still a lot of railroading.

It's basically an interactive movie or CYOA. Which wouldn't be all that bad except in this case the whole game hinges on this mystery which once you find out who the killer is (and you always will if you play from beginning to end), well that sort of defeats the purpose of repeat play throughs. Granted you could just do stuff to see every ending since there are quite a few, but eh, the characters aren't really compelling or likable enough to care about. (The killer is probably the best written character) I'm not really a fan of the whole quick time event multiple button mashing/joystick waggling stuff (It actually decreases my enjoyment of some of the God of War battles where it's mandatory) so I basically just watched Katie play it and after she mentioned she had no desire to play it again, the game went back.

EDIT: I propose seizing the "Forum Software upgraded..." thread to talk about contest stuff if we still have the spam flood by the 16th. That particular thread doesn't even have any other posts in it yet.

          • Sweet! The site is fixed.

            For now...

Yeah, I think what I like most about "LittleBigPlanet" is just the way the art/design is done. It definitely gets an A+ from me for creativity. The actual gameplay isn't what I'm used to, but I really liked some of the levels (the "Metal Gear Solid" bonus stages are my favorite so far). Haven't beat it yet, but I think I'm close.

And Chubby, you're gonna rate this year, right?! You OWE me from last year if I recall correctly. You owe me BIG!

            [EDIT]

And yeah, I'm not a big fan of the "moving around" games, either, but the Kinect still impressed me somehow. I've always had this dream of fighting in a huge online virtual reality war game (perhaps a simulation of the Last Alliance battle from Lord of the Rings), so every time technology moves a little bit closer to getting us there, I get stoked.

And I don't really mind keeping myself in shape. It is a bit exhausting, but not too bad.

            • Ugh - sorry guys. I took out the latest ladyxadmin account. It's disabled now.

I deleted all her posts and threads.

Let me know if you see anything else weird.

              • The bot doesn't seem to have stayed banned for long. "Current Activity: Creating Thread Off-Topic." Either the ban somehow prevents it from posting, though, or it's just taking awhile. It is the same user, evidenced by the join date and the "last 10 visitors to this page" frame, and not a new incarnation, I think. I can access its profile, but I'm restricted from viewing the "newest member" LadyX - an attribute of the clones we saw awhile back - which seems to support the above.

It appears, at least, to use just the one name, here and on a number of other sites. Can't "LadyX" just be censored via adminCP, so an account can't be created with that particular phrase? I know that's how some admins solved the "&#(00-99)" duplicate user glitch, which might be how we ended up with more than one in the first place.

Alternatively, assuming the above exploit isn't used or is prevented as noted, someone could simply grab the username immediately following the ban (if Sev has, as I assume, the option of deleting the account), so it gets stuck trying to register.

At least we've busted it back to "Literary Hack" for the time being.

EDIT: It seems to have logged off, so I guess it can't post.

                Mega kept his members, though.

                • Hey, dreamshell here. Nice to be able to finally fucking post here (thanks to Locke for that). So, how I found out about this site is as follows;

After discovering that interactive stories existed online sometime ago thanks to CYS and a few other sites, I eventually came upon this one through reading Endmaster’s stuff and, liking what I saw, clicking a link he'd provided which led here.

After that I sort of left things alone, but having recently remembered enjoying this sort of thing and coming up with a few ideas I’m interested in seeing in CYOA form, I’m curious to see if I can write one for myself.

So, just making my presence known. I’d also like to say I’m a fan of Endmaster and donteatpoop. Both of you have put out some fun, detailed stories and I’m grateful for all the dark humor.

                        • Perhaps someone should suggest to Sev to bestow administrative rights to someone, to approve the new signups and such.

We've been doing it at City of IF since 2006 - having the populace vote every 6 months for whoever they think is most up to the job. In that time, (apart from a stretch of four or five months where one of our elected admins disappeared into thin air) the site has always had someone visiting regularly who can keep the membership and forums maintained.

I noticed that CYS is doing a similar thing right now.

Yeah, it's a good call. I'd nominate Endmaster for that. Or Dragavan if he's still around.

                              • I've always thought so, too; I suggested it again during the latest wave of spam, but I think Sev is pretty set against it for some reason.
