Don't listen to him, lurkers! When I first came here and confessed to just checking out the site for awhile before I decided to join, he accused me of being a creepy lurker as well. Poop obviously has lurking issues, but that shouldn't interfere with your enjoyment of this site. I give you all a warm welcome and I do hope you'll join up with us soon!

Because I'm sure it's nothing like, oh, say...most of the "lurkers" are just Google-bots or something.

Usoki, you're the crankiest asshole we know. Not that it's a bad thing, it just means that you smell funny and are best left hidden in darkness.
And it's embarrassing when you make any noise at all.
The way it was explained to me is that each search engine has a bot that scans the web so that the page can appear listed in the engine, and they just so happen to appear as guests when they do so. I know nothing of this sort of computer-y thing, so it's possible I'm entirely wrong, but...I think that's how it works. Your creepy Google ads are still safe.

Also,if someone doesnt log in and just keeps checking back to see if anything new has been posted, each visit is probably considered a new lurker on the counter.
