Hah. I love you guys. I THINK we all may have convinced End to shell out the nickles and dimes for Mario Kart.If nothing else, we have him playing SSBB. He's going through story mode like a tiger! I think the whole lack of movement sold him on it. He's really good at it too- me? Not so much.

I AM good at some of his Xbox games though, I love Soul Calibur IV! I made a bunch of little warriors and dressed them up like famous icons- Dorothy, Alice of Wonderland fame, Superman... it has been the game to keep my attention the longest, plus I keep going back to it. I also enjoyed Fallout 3, Oblivion, Fable 2, and Saint's Row 2 (although I had to play on the easy level like a freaking girl!)

Playing Mario Galaxy makes me miss my N64. Anyway, since everyone is on a roll with this whole convincing End to buy me things, what other games should he buy?

Mario Galaxy is freaking great. Love that game. Paper Mario has a more classic control, not as fun of a game as Galaxy in my opinion, but it's a good game. Comparable a bit to Mario 2, because you can use multiple characters.

Mario Kart though... YOU MUST ACQUIRE THIS.

Mario Party is pretty fun too.

And you gotta love Mario Kart Wii. The DS MK is very skilled. You don't rely on items much; it's all about skill: drifting, snaking, slipstreaming, knowing the track. In Wii MK? It's ALL about the items. You can have skill... but it won't matter much when you get nailed by two red shells, a spiny, a bullet bill, and a bomb-omb all in succession. It's a bit more frustrating...but it's also a lot more fun.
It's easy to avoid the red shells though if you have a bananna or a green shell. Those winged shells, whatever they're called, are a BITCH.

Usoki, you have the wii hooked up to online?

Until the unavoidable lightning or pow block makes you drop all of your items. Or you're in first, and the game will only give you those worthless item box bombs. Or you're turning the corner, and the shell hits you from the side. Or, or, or.

Currently? No. The way the Internet is handled here in the student dorms, it's not worth it to pay the connection fee for consoles. In one more week, when I'm at home? Yes, yes I will. MK, SSBB, and NiGHTS. Not that that last one has much in the way of riviting online play. Oh, Team Sonic...

Could we all play against each other online? Would we have to pay for it? It would be fun to have an infinite race.

              Hmmm.

              You guys....guess what?

I think I'm gonna buy a Wii. The reasons are many. It just seems appropriate and honestly the price has come down of late. And katie, I have a question, if you please.

I LOVED Fable 1. I loved the melding of the adventure/rpg styles. Did you play the first Fable? If so, how does it compare to the sequel? I'm really flirting with getting it as well.

I'm pretty sure Mario Kart will be one of the first games I get for Wii. IF I get one - the IF of which the odds are highly in favor of at this precise moment in time.

Speaking of gadgets and whatnot; I'm also looking into setting up a video surveillance system around my apartment just because it would be fun and cool and I could have a little heads up when the FEDS come.

You'll never take me alive, coppers! See! Mya! Mya!

Ah, who am I kidding? It's the Jehovah's Witnesses I'm worried about. And the landlord. And minorities, ect.

I do think it's a good idea though to have one (some kind of surveillance....and a Wii).

EDIT: And I imagine there is some sort of premium for online Wii play, Katie. You get what you pay for, though (in my humble view). I pay for XBox live but at the end of the day I feel its money well spent, or at the very least I'm getting my dollars worth. I've always been a PvP whore, though. Playing against the computer is fun, but I get so much more sheer joy - caused in part by all the pints of blood rushing away from my brain and straight into my cute little wormy member (which not only gives me a headrush but also makes me climax fifty seven times in a matter of 30 seconds) - knowing that a real live human 1,000 miles a way is screaming in frustration as I annihilate his or her army and whatever grand plans they had in mind. CRUSHING whatever dreams they had fostered for the last 10 minutes. RAPING whatever schemes they had schemed.

Fable 2 is better in almost all aspects. Still a little short when compared to other CRPGs like Mass Effect though.

The setting is a little more creative than the traditional medieval Tolkienesque stuff found in the fantasy genre. It's not quite Steampunk, but it has elements of it. Storyline is alright. There's enough stuff for your character to find if you're one of those completes sorts that likes looking for stuff. Lots of stuff to kill. You can customize your character's clothing/coloring a lot more. Most quests have the choices of doing it the "good way" or the "evil way" which of course makes your character start looking different accordingly. They added fat/thin and pure/corrupt elements that change your look as well.

One of the few downsides of it is that you can't really "die" in the game (Hero just falls unconscious for a bit) which sort of takes any challenge out of it. Though if you're just playing for fun that won't matter too much.

Nope. Entirely free. The Wii doesn't have nearly as much stuff as X-Box or PS3 does, which is the tradeoff. No profiles, no achievements, no streaming NetFlix... Just the game, and the ability to play against other people, friends or strangers.

I pretty much just plow through these games like a freight train, End. That's why I like 'RPG' games like Diablo. I love fighting of mass foes in cramped spaces, the strategy, the co-op modes, ect.

The baking pies and gossiping with bards aspect? Um, not so much. There was a lot of that in Fable, and in some regards its cool. In others, not so much. I'm all about immersing myself in a REALISTIC world, but I'm honestly not going to waste hours of my time hopping between vendors selling peaches and flasks of meade for a razor thin gp margin. That is as retarded as it is stupid. Some people get into this shit though.

My favorite part of Fable was the Arena. I wish there was an rpg based solely on arena play, with the same battle mechanics but also a little storyline thrown in as well as a few rare items and side quests ect.

I love being able to customize a character's spells and fighting style and armour and all of that. Spending skill points, customizing the controller, what have you. THAT'S what I love about rpgs. Fuck all of that Tolkienesque bullshit. I love Tolkien's work, but Jesus Christ almighty! It's been DONE!

                    Anyway...

It's just so hard for me to find games that really DRAW me in, and the first Fable did it - despite its many many many flaws. The biggest flaw being it was SHORT. WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too short. Sounds like the 2nd is no different, from End's critique.

                    I dunno. I just dunno.

Also I'd like a much more SUBTLE good and evil system. So that you don't necessarily know what choice is good or evil - you actually have to delve into your own ethics!! You have to make HARD choices.

EDIT: Thanks for the info, Usoki. Go Nintendo!

The Wii is neat. I actually DO like people. I actually WILL have them over. And the wii is a must have when you're in a cramped apartment and you can't play pool or even fuck DARTS.

The people I like take their shoes off and don't fart, though. Just so you know. Also they floss and they don't cut in line and they're good drivers and also they give 20% of their earning to charity.

I'd say it's probably a little longer than Fable: The Lost Chapters, but if you're charging through games like you say, yeah it's not going to last a week since the combat isn't that hard. The arena in Fable 2 is a little disappointing compared to the arena in the first game. (One of the other aspects it didn't surpass the original in)

There's some downloadable content (and a 2nd pack came out today) which adds some more stuff, but nothing you're probably going to want to bother with unless you're really into the game.

As for the good and evil stuff. Most games that have it don't implement it all that well. There's a few games (Mostly older ones) that do have some quests/missions where you can be a really underhanded vicious bastard without being super obvious about it, but it's never a consistent thing. "Evil" in games usually degenerates into the mindless chaotic type where you just kill everyone and/or steal stuff from people.

What's weird is the game definitely requires a lot of movement on my part, but somehow it doesn't seem as bad when my character's shoving a sign post through people's heads and then impaling them on a bed of wall spikes.

I'm geeking out on Fable 2 right now. I have to say that honestly there's some things about it I really like and some others I really dislike.

It's mostly weighted on the like side of the scale, all that being said. There's been some tight spots and whatnot, and the combat system is awesome, but I think it might be a little on the easy side. Just like EndMaster said.

Not sure though. Haven't fought enough bad guys yet. This game seems to make up for it though by offering a lot of other non combat related activities.

Funny thing is, one of my biggest irks is the simple fact that traditionally BLUE stands for mana/magic in RPGs and RED stands for strength and whatnot. However it's vice versa in this one, and I'm not sure why. There IS sort of a universal code when it comes to SOME things.

                                Damn, it's late.
