Speaking of happy movies, Blood Meridian and Cities of the Plain are being made into films -- two more McCarthy books! This almost makes up for The Road not getting a wide release!
Not exactly sure how Blood Meridian is going to be done, since it's so vague and it's about the most gruesome thing I've ever read (one scene, not even close to the most disgusting one, includes the book's protagonist encountering a tree "hung with dead infants"), but most people consider it to be McCarthy's best work, so I'm stoked. And the book's villan is amazing. Blows No Country for Old Men's Anton Chigurh out of the water. Partially because you aren't really expecting this person to be a complete nut case.
Ya. This is gonna be good.

This topic is about movies that youve just seen and/ or seen again. After you say the name of the movie you should rate it.
JU-ON > 5/5 it is a perfect film.
P.S. for those of you who do not know what JU-ON is, it is the movie that The Grudge was based on. This movie scared the hell out of me.

"Fighting the good fight..." brings a tear to my eye. Not because of the words, but because that's the main line of Three Dog from "Fallout 3". My only friend in the Capital Wastelands and I went and killed him just to see what would happen. Worst mistake of my life.
I killed pretty much everyone in that game, actually. Now nobody is fighting the good fight (except those losers from the Brotherhood of Steel). So sad. Just me and the deathclaws.

Saw The Book of Eli (even though my ticket says Book of El, which made me think it was going to be about Superman's family) yesterday... I did enjoy it, but it wasn't perfect by a long shot. The character scenes were well done, action felt like it was real, and violence that was in it was brutal, but all that was spaced out with long walking sequences and talking about the Bible.
You'd think that after my complaints about the 2012: Doomsday movie last week I would mark this one down for the religious overtones to the movie, but it worked well with the story. It added to the story and characters, rather than taking over the movie and ruining them. I also liked how it showed both sides of it, how it can be used for both good and evil.
The look was great. It was the right amount of desolation and grime for a post-apocalyptic movie. Most everything was muted brown and gray. The air was thick with particulates. People were dirty and cautious about others. It really felt like the world was destroyed in some great war and these were the few survivors that happened to go on.
And the acting was very good. Some really top notch actors in this thing, so it was to be expected, but you never really know until you see it. And since I didn't go in knowing much about who all was in it (aside from the main three characters), it was fun to get regular surprises of "Oh, wow, he's in it too" every few scenes.
The music, at least to me, was the best part. I loved the soundtrack. I even put my hand up to quiet my friend who was trying to talk to me during the closing credits so I could listen to it more. I may have to buy this soundtrack... or torrent it first to see if it's really the good score stuff and not some crap mix of the few other songs that appeared in a few scenes of the movie.
Hard to give it a grade, but if I had to grade it on NetFLix I would give it a "liked it" (which is 3 stars), but that feels too low to me. I can't say I "loved it" (four stars) though... But the soundtrack I would.Dragavan: Dragavan Games - Lootin' Wizards - The Land of Karn - Central U (adult) - Dragavan's Adult Stories

ChubbyT: Shh.
End: Yeah, the outcasts didn't pretend to be anything other than what they were -- dirty men in a dirty world. I killed them also, though, of course. So are the expansions worth getting?
Dragavan: Yes, I figured that movie would be pretty good. As for difficulty rating... That's why I always have to do my ratings out of ten add on some fraction if necessary. Then everyone knows exactly how good the movie is... Unless you decide that you want to give a movie a rating of pi or something...
Anyway.

Point Lookout would be next since it actually feels like a proper expansion with a sizable location to explore. Seems more like post apocalyptic Louisiana rather than Maryland though.
I rank The Pitt next because of the setting. I wish they had made this one a lot longer and expanded the exploration area a lot more because the place looks even more hellish than Capital Wasteland. (Actually it reminded me of present day Detroit, ha ha)
Operation Anchorage is ok, but since it takes place mostly in a vitual reality simulator it's pretty linear. More Brotherhood Outcasts are in this one and you can get some cool equipment.
Mothership Zeta is even more linear and plays more like a straight up shooter. Didn't really care for this one, they should've focused on some of the other places you hear about like "The Commonwealth" rather than the alien spaceship stuff.
