I really liked that one when I played it during its early phases, too. I don't think I've given the sequel a try, though.

dreamshell, have you tried that author's Mecha Ace? (https://www.choiceofgames.com/mecha-ace/)

I'm not a huge fan of CoG games, but there's quite a few in the hosted games section that look promising, once you sift through the garbage.

Apex Patrol (https://www.choiceofgames.com/user-c...d/apex-patrol/) I've only just started on but aside from one attempt to shove some furry bait at me it's been a pretty decent space game so far. It's also free, which is the major point in its favor.

I have not. I'll check 'em out, thanks for the suggestions.

To share in kind, another few I like from Text Adventures are the 'Victorian Detective' series, though the way the save feature works is very irritating if you're going for a 'perfect score' (wherein your detective protagonist makes all the right connections, and doesn't stumble over themselves chasing after suspects).

EDIT: Getting a little carried away here, but a few more from CoG:

I've played the first couple Victoria Detective games, they're some of the better ones there. Quest in a way is too popular for it's own good, finding the good games can require a lot of sifting through the...not so good.

e: Getting further into the Apex game, it's still above average by random story on the internet standards, but they made a good call in not charging for it. It's a little rough in places, but, I"m in love with this particular genre and so can overlook a lot.

Christ I had to go to the second page to dig this up.

dreamshell, my earlier recommendation of Apex I kind of want to take back. Besides the occasional bit of (thankfully optional) nerd pandering bullshit, and a plot that needed tightening up, it was in dire need of an editor. I mean it's one of those situations where it would be impressive posted here or on CYS, but it's pretty amateurish compared to most things I've seen on CoG. I'll probably email the author(s?) later tonight. I mean I'm such a huge fan of the genre of solving space problems with science words, so I'd like to know what else they have in the works, and if they're at least aware of the issues of the original.

Anybody else you read anything good lately? CYS has a 'School Based' comp going on right now, in hopes of getting something non-awful for that category produced, and there's like twenty entries so far with Bucky and Steve and some other promising authors in the mix.

dreamshell again, End mentioned you had an account over there, so I was wondering if you'd have a chance to take a look at Will11's Magellan series? (http://chooseyourstory.com/story/mag...-great-unknown)

Apex was all right. Little rough, as you say, though it made up for it with plenty of options (perhaps too many on occasion), and I liked the rivalry between the POV captain and Kasador. But I found Mecha Ace overall more enjoyable.

I'll check Magellan out, though I've got a few other projects taking up my time, so I may take a little while to get through it. Thanks.
