    John Adams the series, folks.

TRUST me on this. PLEASE. Best thing on HBO since the Sopranos. Or rather, EVER. It is so gritty and real and horrifying and comical. The casting is brilliant. The directing is...

    Beyond.

This is the best piece of historical movie making I've ever seen in my entire life.

This last episode had to do with Ben Franklin and John Adams in the French court of King Louis XVI. Versailles.

Powerful. Moving. As a student of history I must say this series is unlike anything I have seen before.

Just watch it. You WON'T be let down.

I caught a few minutes of the John Adams thing, but I just wasn't in a historical mood. I never liked American history, it always bored me, but I'm sure if I caught it from the beginning I'd feel differently. Dexter is still one of my favorites.

        Stephen Dillane as Thomas Jefferson.

        Nuff said.

HBO's John Adams series was brilliant. For so many reasons. Not the least of which was the casting.

Thomas Jefferson was a complicated, awkward man.

As were the rest of them.

What a disservice we do to ourselves by not studying TRUE history.

Kudos to HBO. As soon as the series comes out on DVD I will be buying my mom, who doesn't have HBO, a copy of it.

Trust me, Apoth, it's worth it.

If you don't have ANY interest in history then you might as well just not write either.

It's not about the public education system, you fucking idiot. American history bores you?

Jesus fucking mary in the ass christ wake up, man.

We LIVE here, dude. Are you fucking stupid or just retarded?

I have an interest in history, I just find the history of other nations to be more interesting than ours. That doesn't mean I have anything against our history, I just prefer studying other era's in human evolution. It isn't about being stupid or anything like that, just a matter of interest.

Um. Sorry. Wow I get snippy when it's late.

Seriously though you didn't answer my question:

Stupid or retarded. Which one are you?

Neither. I've decided I'm going to watch that John Adams thing this summer though. I've gotten a ton more good reviews from other people and it has now peaked my interest.

Cool. It isn't a 'rosy picture' HBO paints. But a work of art, in a way.

My favorite part is when Ben, Thomas, and John are all together in France. Hilarity ensues. The 'upperclass' of French society were fucking hilarious in this era, and despised by all. This was right before the BRUTAL French revolution.

Ben Franklin was a total horn dog who fit in perfectly in Versailles. Jefferson was a hopeless idealist, though he too was somewhat taken in by the splendor of Paris. And Adams was just plain stubborn and COMPLETELY out of place.

I find ALL history interesting, though. Like you said. It's just that we're fed a filtered version of our own history by our public education system and popular media and it's nice to see a non-PC, non-biased presentation like what HBO has done here.

I also enjoyed seeing the last years of John Adams life, when only he and Jefferson (who had become enemies later on in their careers) were the remaining survivors of '76, and they rekindle their old friendship through a series of letters.

They both lived to ripe old ages, given the time in which they lived. What a strange and completely alien era. Yet somehow very relative to our own 'modern' lives.

EDIT: EDIT: Also, it should be mentioned that both Adams and Jefferson die on the EXACT same day. That day being the 50th anniversary of the ratification the declaration of independence. Which Jefferson wrote at Adam's behest. And which both Franklin and Adams helped Jefferson 'edit'.

                    That's nice, Leblanc.

*Throws something shiny to divert his attention*

It should be clarified, however, that I think John Adams WAS a vain man. Like 95% of humanity.

Though remarkable, truly. He spoke his mind ALWAYS. Maybe to a fault, maybe not. He was a work-a-holic, and his family suffered because of this. Although honor bound, he did not have the fortitude to address the slavery issue of which, as a northerner, he adamantly opposed.

He was human. As all of our founders were.

                    Just as we are.

The series one fault in my mind is it's FAST pace, rushing through 50 years of history in 8 episodes. I wish it could have been a two season series.

                    Oh well.

Robot chicken is great. South Park has also been having a pretty decent season thusfar.

I laughed 6 times this season, 3 of which were in one episode. I hope the season gets better, I'm using it as my test to see if I quit South Park altogether. Right now, I consider it sub-par.

I have never watched Robotic Chicken.

I've been very disappointed by South Park this season. A lot of the episodes seem rushed and uninspired. Last weeks internet show was by far my favorite so far.

As it stands I don't think I'll ever quit watching South Park, however. As a Colorado native I am duty bound to it.

This season has been far more dependent on the viewer having knowledge of some large event, item, or meme outside of the show than any other season has been so far. For those who are interested in or aware of these things the season has been extra funny. For those that don't, they loose out on some things and it seems more flat.

Overall I think the show has been floundering for years, but this season has picked up a lot... but it is still not what it once was.

It dosn't shock any more... the Simpsons had the same problem. South Park's Shock factor was one of it's major selling points.
