Oh look, it works again. I guess I don't have an excuse for not working on it anymore.

Perhaps we could go down again so that I can procrastinate further?

I'm still alive. I'm in the midst of trying to convert my NaNoWriMo attempt into a CYOA. It's more sci-fi than anything at this point but there is a city and there are demons and stuff in it so I guess it counts?

I do have a fallback option if this doesn't work out, kind of a boring one IMO but at least I can avoid SHAME.

I guess Sev finally stopped the spambot apocalypse.

Anyway just a reminder from what I mentioned in the bomb shelter, the new deadline for the contest is January 16th. I've already posted my story, join me or face SHAME!

Yes, I can see the bot online right now, banging its virtual head against its newly acquired banned status.

          Jan 16th..... *takes note*

Wait so she's banned now? Do we know this for sure?

Is the forum filled with spam? If the bot wasn't banned, it would be. I e-mailed Sev yesterday; he showed up very early this morning and dealt with it. I'm not sure why he just revoked posting privileges and didn't ban it outright, but I'm sure he had his reasons; I don't care, really, since it's silenced, and I do get some pleasure out of watching it sit there, unable to do anything.

Awesome then, good work e-mailing Sev.

It feels kind of weird posting in another thread again...also I just noticed I called the bot 'she', but this is okay I like to think it's developed some kind of rudimentary intelligence and is actively suffering now that it can't advertise things.

Sorry, Megaman is the only intelligent bot. This one's just wearing human skin or something, and unconvincingly at that. LadyX says it is a "Man" from "El Salvador" in the bio (though it seems to be a German bot, or spamming from a German server). It keeps using our language, but not in a way that makes any sense; whatever it really wants to say is probably too awful to have an English equivalent, and the closest it can come is this incessant advertising. Anyway, if it was anything like human, End would've tracked it down and murdered it by now. Come to think of it, he'd probably have pictures.

You can try asking at the ICQ number it left, but I wouldn't risk it.

Ugh... I hate me some days. I still have no idea what I'm going to go with- neither of them really have much to do with the Urban element, unless I force it.

The one which I think is a better idea is also much harder to write, and will probably wind up more serious than my normal fare, which is half of its difficulty. Not only do I need enough emotional and philosophical details to warrent the main decisions, they also need to be relevant and meaningful, so that the reader will feel like his choice made a difference.

The one that would be more fun to write is an awkward mash-up of various loose story fragments I've had over the ages, most of which come from Hellstone or Rentyre. And, seeing as how that's pretty much the only style of thing I write around here, I'd really rather not. Although, for that same reason, it'd be fairly easy...

...Ugh. I guess it'll depend on my mood over break...

Or maybe I'll write both! ...snrrk... Heh... hee... Bwah hah hah! Oh, good joke, me.

                    • Anyone read End's story yet?

It's pretty good, I got what I think is the best ending the first time through and since then and I'm happy to see the rest seems to focus on screwing the poor guy's life up in the most entertaining ways possible.

The tone is this weird mix of modern and fantasy though and there were some minor issues I spotted because I am an unapologetic grammar nazi so boo, one star.

mine will be better, mine is the best

                      • Well I read most of the first page.

I haven't been able to sit down and really have a long, continuous read, though, so I'll wait until break to go through it. I have to say that the whole mom-teasing part was hilarious, though.

My sister's boyfriend's mother is what most people call... a total butch-dyke... too, and everyone used to always tease him about it. Well she's married to a man and all, but just her appearance. Total BD. Everyone agrees. Anyway, one day over at the trailer they lived in a couple years ago, he and my sister were fighting (as usual), when my sister decided to start in on his mom. Long story short, she spent about 5 - 10 minutes hilariously bashing on his mother in front of a few people while he tried to defend her.

Finally, in a last-ditch effort to reclaim some of his mother's honor, he turned to his friend (who I'll call "Clyde") and said:

"You don't think my mom's a dyke, do you, Clyde?"

Clyde, being both overly nice AND overly honest, could only look at the floor, while he replied:

"Well... she does have a mullet..."

                        THE END

                        [EDIT]

I read a lot of Ground Zero about a month ago, though; pretty much all the stuff in the bomb shelter. I couldn't fully appreciate it all those years ago, since I hadn't played Fallout. I still think it lacks a lot of detail, but it's entertaining. Great for helping a man program at 3:00 a.m.

Some of those paths were more fun to write than others, if had to rate the major epilogues to Ground Zero I'd do it in this order:

                          1. The City- What can I say I always like writing at least one in depth victorious "evil" ending.

                          2. The Compound- This whole path is probably the most complex with lots of different ways it could play out. Probably the strongest one storyline wise.

                          3. Experimental Shelter- I sort of cut some stuff from this one, so it's the shortest path, but I still like the ending to this one.

                          4. Community Shelter- This one is okay and it's probably stronger story wise than the ES path, but I dunno, to me it's just average.

                          5. The General Store- The "secret" 5th path is more of an excuse to just be a complete bastard. Fun, but not really as structured as the other ones.

                          • Well, I've hit my room mark (although I'm not going to release it just yet). This one will probably be a little longer than "The Rift". Do you guys want to see a nice map of my city? I'll bet you do:

                            Welcome to Delmechia!

Believe it or not, this shit took me forever, mostly because I couldn't find any online painting tools that I liked. I even had a full map created in MS Paint before I scrapped it entirely. Clearly map-making isn't a natural talent of mine, but this does the job.

I'm probably going to be doing a "zoom-in" feature so that you can look at each of the six city sections in detail (these will include a key for important locations), but I might not do it before the contest is over. Mostly because I'm not sure how I want to design the close-up sections (and it's not like it's extremely important).

                            Perhaps I'll use MS Paint?

And I added in a "city information" section, too, so hopefully this story will be a little easier to get into than my last one. You can get a general overview of Delmechia and then there's info on all the important locations/people for each city section. It's not necessary to read the city information but it just works as a reference in case someone gets confused.

Anyway, I'm in. Should be released in a few days. The story is called "Delmechia".

I'm now trying to get mine organised - although the storylines are not finished I am over 20 rooms, so at least will avoid SHAME.

                              • Alright, so that's three so far who have finished (even if one hasn't released it yet). Is that right? The rest have only 9 days to avoid complete and utter shame.
